Common questions

How do I give ChronoContacts access to my contacts?

The app asks the first time you open it. If you said no, or want to check:

iPhone or iPad: Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → ChronoContacts, and turn it on. On iOS 18 and later you can grant access to selected contacts only; the app will then show just those.

Android: Settings → Apps → ChronoContacts → Permissions → Contacts → Allow.

Reopen the app afterwards. It reads your address book again and builds the timeline.

Why do my contacts say they were added on the day I installed the app?

Because that is the first day the app could see them.

iPhones can sometimes supply a real added date from the system’s contact history, and the app uses it when they do. Android cannot. For everyone else the app records the moment it first saw the contact.

Everything you add from then on is dated properly.

I paid already. How do I restore my subscription?

Open the app and tap Restore purchases on the Pro screen. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account or Google account you bought it with. Subscriptions belong to the store account, not to a ChronoContacts account.

If it still does not restore, email us and include the store receipt.

How do I cancel Pro?

Cancel with the store you bought from. We cannot cancel it for you, because we do not handle the billing.

iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → ChronoContacts → Cancel Subscription.

Android: Play Store → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → ChronoContacts → Cancel.

Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged. When Pro stops, nothing is deleted. Tags, the advanced sort views, reminders and custom themes switch off, and the rest of the app keeps working.

How do I delete everything the app stored?

Delete the app. The added-on dates, tags, places and activity timestamps live in a database on your device and are removed with it.

Your contacts are not affected. They belong to your phone, not to ChronoContacts. Deleting the app leaves your address book exactly as it was, including any notes you wrote, because notes are saved to the contact itself.

We hold no copy of any of it, so there is nothing on our side to delete.

Why is the app asking for my location?

To fill in “where we met”. When you add a contact, the app takes a rough position fix and turns it into a neighbourhood label like “Shoreditch, London”, saved against that contact on your device.

It is entirely optional. Decline the permission and contacts save without a place; nothing else changes. You can turn it off later in your device settings under ChronoContacts → Location.

The app is not showing a contact I just added

ChronoContacts syncs with your phone’s contacts automatically, but the operating system sometimes reports changes late. Close and reopen the app to force a fresh read.

If the contact is still missing, check whether contacts permission is limited to selected contacts only (iOS 18 and later).
